Project: Tall Pedestal Rooftop Pool Deck
Porcelain Paver Rooftop Pool Deck with Buzon Pedestals + E-BRS Joists
This commercial hospitality rooftop project demonstrates what’s possible with a tall pedestal system. The elevated pool deck required an exceptionally rigid platform, extreme pedestal height, precise alignment to complex structure, and long-term stability. It also required accessibility for guests and access to pool and rooftop components for maintenance teams.
Project Type: Commercial Hospitality Rooftop
Location: Undisclosed
Components: Buzon Pedestals, E-BRS Aluminum Joists, Porcelain Pavers
The Challenge: Designing with a Tall Pedestal System
Designing a rooftop pool terrace is never simple. This one added several layers of complexity:
- Extraordinary elevation requiring extremely tall pedestals
- Structural coordination with fabricated pool supports and services
- Need for exceptional platform rigidity to support guest circulation and lounging
- Heavy point-load risk from furniture and equipment on pavers
- Ongoing equipment access requirements below the surface
- Integrated stair transitions and a sloped accessible ramp
This raised terrace is a precision platform built above, and around, an active mechanical environment.
The System Solution: Tall Pedestal System + E-BRS Joists
To meet these demands, the installation team worked with:
- Buzon PB Series Pedestals at extraordinary height
- Cross-bracing to stabilize the elevated support structure
- E-BRS Easy Rail Aluminum Joists to create a rigid, unified framing plane
- Breakthrough-protection on tall pedestal system decks (similar to Paver Defense Solutions)
- Integrated E-BRS sliding spacer tabs for precise joint alignment
- AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor visible during construction
- Stone-finish, large-format, outdoor-rated porcelain pavers
Together, these elements created a stable, quiet, vibration-resistant deck surface that feels solid underfoot, even at extreme elevation.
Constructability & Installation Insight
The project photography tells the story:
- Tall pedestal system, some reaching chest height, stabilized with engineered cross-bracing
- E-BRS rails creating a rigid frame and shared load plane across the platform
- Clean, even joints achieved using sliding spacer tabs within the aluminum rails
- Stair and terrace transitions constructed using the same pedestal + rail strategy
- An inclined accessible ramp built with pedestals and E-BRS framing
- Porcelain pavers installed with break-through protection to guard against high point loads
Despite the complexity beneath, the finished walking surface is simple, refined, and beautifully executed.
Maintenance & Access Advantage
While guests will experience only a calm, beautiful pool terrace, the design ensures that facility teams retain full access beneath. The pedestal and joist system allows removal and reinstallation of surface elements without demolition, preserving long-term serviceability and protecting the owner’s investment.
The Result
The finished pool deck is elegant and welcoming, with warm stone-finish porcelain, glass perimeter guards, shaded seating, and an elevated border edge that doubles as seating. Beneath that calm aesthetic lies a disciplined structural support strategy, delivering rigidity, resiliency, and confidence at height.
If you’re designing elevated outdoor environments, especially at unusual heights or around complex rooftop infrastructure, Buzon pedestal systems and E-BRS aluminum joists can help translate your design intent into dependable built reality. Contact Buzon USA West to discuss your project.
