A step-by-step look at how the E-BRS system + Buzon Wind Uplift System delivers a level, secure, and wind-resistant rooftop terrace.
Perched above calm blue waters, this rooftop terrace offers a view as breathtaking as it is demanding. With wind exposure, sloped surfaces, and waterproofing requirements to consider, the design team turned to the E-BRS Easy Rail system combined with Buzon’s Wind Uplift System to deliver a level, secure, and wind-resistant outdoor surface.
Preparing the Roof
The rooftop’s subtle slope and waterproof membrane required precision and care. Before installation, crews laid protective plywood walkways and verified drainage points. Pallets of Buzon PB-Series pedestals arrived shrink-wrapped and ready for deployment. These adjustable pedestals, combined with slope correctors, create a perfectly level base for the E-BRS Easy Rail aluminum joist system and the porcelain pavers that will cover them.
Installing the E-BRS Easy Rail System
Starting in the corner, installers laid out slope correctors and PB pedestals, setting the first E-BRS aluminum rail in place. Each pedestal and rail combination was precisely leveled using Buzon’s slope level tool, ensuring a flat foundation ready for the porcelain pavers above.
As additional Easy Rail aluminum joists were added, a strong grid emerged that is both lightweight and engineered for load-bearing strength. The double Easy Rail aluminum joist at the perimeter provides added edge support and rigidity for high-traffic zones.
Kerf Cutting and the Wind Uplift System
To safeguard against uplift forces in exposed rooftop environments, the crew used a grinder and jig to create kerf cuts along the edge of each porcelain paver. These slots accept the U-Lock Washer, a small but powerful component that mechanically secures pavers to the joist system below.
With a simple twist of a screwdriver, each U-Lock Washer can be locked or unlocked—allowing for secure placement, easy maintenance access, and complete confidence in wind-resistant performance.
The Finished Installation
After careful layout, alignment, and securement, the team paused to admire the completed section. The porcelain pavers now rest perfectly level above the waterproof membrane, each one mechanically fastened against uplift. Even in cold weather conditions, the system installed quickly and cleanly, providing a high-performance rooftop surface ready to withstand the elements.
